February 3, 2025 – Zvonimir Šibalić, a member of the PPD Management Board, participated in the official Croatian economic delegation that visited Qatar, organized by the Croatian Chamber of Economy. More than 20 Croatian companies from various sectors participated in the delegation, with the aim of strengthening existing and establishing new business relationships. The visit of the delegation of Croatian companies was organized as part of the visit of the Minister of Economy Ante Šušnjar and the Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Gordan Grlić Radman. A special focus was on companies from the energy, electrical power, infrastructure, and defense industries.
"Although our company does not currently cooperate with Qatari suppliers, we believe that the availability of LNG from various sources is crucial for the energy security of the European Union. In this context, Qatar, as one of the world's leading LNG exporters, has significant potential to contribute to a secure and reliable energy supply in the region, and any further diversification of natural gas supply plays an important role in ensuring market stability, the resilience of the energy system, and the competitiveness of European economies," said Zvonimir Šibalić, Member of the Management Board of Prvo plinarsko društvo.
In addition to B2B meetings, a memorandum of understanding was signed at the economic forum in Doha between the Croatian Chamber of Economy and the Qatar Chamber, as a significant step for the further strengthening of economic relations, for the establishment of stronger institutional support, and as an incentive for even better cooperation between companies. Otherwise, in the first nine months of last year, Croatia recorded an increase in exports to Qatar of almost 130 percent, with an increase in total trade of 62 percent compared to the same period in 2023.
